IDHA History

There are many youth hockey players in Vernon Hills and the surrounding communities that have the ability and desire to play Tier II hockey. In addition, there are a large number of player currently in the IDHL that either have, or will develop the skills and desire to play Tier II hockey in the future. A significant factor in the decision to form the Ice Dogs Hockey Association (the “IDHA” and “Ice Dogs”) is that many players and their parents expressed a strong interest in building a Tier II program based at the Glacier in order to provide additional advanced-level coaching and playing opportunities. The formation of this organization and the granting of full AHAI Tier II status will facilitate further growth in quality youth hockey in Northern Illinois. The IDHA was established in early 2006 as a non-profit organization registered in the State of Illinois. The board of IDHA will ensure that it provides IDHA a first class infrastructure which will allow the youth of Vernon Hills and surrounding communities to develop athletic, social and sportsmanship skills through participation in its programs and exposure to professional coaching and supportive parents.
